About

Darul Habib is the institution founded by Sufi Habibur Rahman (RA).

Kutubul Ershad, Mojaddede Jaman, Immamut Tarikah, Al-hajj Hazrat Moulovi Sufi Habibur Rahman (RA) (1901-2001) was born in Bhola, Bangladesh on 18th February 1901.

Principal Sufi Habibur Rahman was an enlightened personality. Both in worldly and in spiritual life he was equally successful. He was an M.A in English literature. At that time, during the British period, he was the second M.A in English from the Muslim community in Barisal Division. He could easily get any high rank job but he had chosen the teaching profession so that he would get more time to spend for Allah and serve Islam uninterruptedly. He was a scholar in Arabic language and literature too. He secured more than 90% marks in Arabic in all public examinations throughout his student life. He bloomed like a perfumed rose in an island of this small country and spent his 100 years of worldly life as a 'hidden jewel'. He was a great spiritual leader of Indian sub-continent. He was a devotee and Khalifah (representative) of the great spiritual giant of Furfura Sharif named Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiqi (RA).

He wrote the themes of different Ayahs of the Holy Quran in touching poetic verses. He prayed to Almighty Allah in such an appealing manner that even a cruel man was touched by it. He wrote about 30 books which is 'the precious life blood of a master spirit embalmed upon purpose to a life beyond life'. Those are surely a unique addition to Bengali literature. Such a genius and literary giant of three different languages and literature is obviously a distinctive figure, no wonder. The basic subject matter of his books is 'getting Allah through loving Him'. Researching Quran and Hadith and applying those in his practical life he realized the Truth and got the Straight Way (Sirat-ul Mustaqeem). As instructed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through a dream, he introduced the ‘Muhammadiya Tarikah’ in combination of famous 4 Tarikahs, viz. Chishtiya, Qadriya, Nakshbandiya and Mujaddediya. All of their sources are from our Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Through his mighty writings he tried his best to wipe out the wrong and orthodox beliefs and culture of so called Islamic groups. His books are beneficial for all people beyond nation and religion for development of their moral character and ethical values.

The Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh had been giving him an honorary salary since 1987 for his writings.

Islam does not support any monastic life style. One has to get Allah as well as being a social being also- it is the lesson of Islam. This great Murshid (spiritual leader) left proof for us through his ideal life pattern. He was not confined in spiritual teachings only. He also guided his followers about politics, social values, national unity, marriage, children education etc. and showed them how one can achieve Allah’s love in spite of performing all the worldly duties successfully. In short, he led a social life within the secluded life and led a secluded life within the social life.

Sufi Habibur Rahman (RA) appeared like a glowing lamp in the world of Tasawwuf. He was like a touchstone. Anyone whether he was of Arabic background or of English background; was a high rank employee or a day labourer, were cordially received by him into the world of Tasawwuf.

This great man passed away on his 100th birthday, 18th February 2001.

Scented roses are of different kinds and colours. Similarly, his Khalifahs (representatives) are full of different colours and scents but have been spreading out and been distributing the same thing (the LOVE of Allah). Among all his Kalifahs (representatives) his 10th son Kutubul Irshad Hazrat Moulovi Sufi Wadudur Rahman (RA) is the pioneer one. He is also an absolute godsend for the mankind.

Last but not the least, the value of such a paragon cannot be measured; it is only to be treasured.
